I'm a house of gingerbread, I use Crisco instead of butter?
I'm a house of gingerbread for a contest. The recipe for gingerbread calls for butter, but I do not currently have any butter. Will Crisco shortening it instead? Nobody will eat it, then taste Not a problem. What is a problem, however, is the texture of gingerbread. Will this make it too soft or hard or dense or brittle or something else? We need this gingerbread hold up?
Since the flavor is not important, I would say no, it will not make much difference. It will probably be a little firm but not too drastic or anything of butter fat is softer than the vegetable fat temperature ambient. But yes, you can use it and it will be ok. Good luck with your contest!
